Web Design Process

It’s important to know what to expect in the website design process, so there are no surprises. From start to finish I want your web design experience to be anticipatory and exciting.

1. Contact and Consultation

I have several web design packages that will act as a starting point for what you want for your website. If its not listed, don’t worry, I am always up for unusual creative projects so just ask. After I get an idea for what you want with your website, I will email you a web design proposal. This will include everything discussed for the functionality  design elements, and any extra considerations  for work that will go into creating your website. Depending on the scope of your project, it usually takes 2-5 weeks from start to finish until your website is launched and live.

2. Make a Payment and Sign the Agreement

Half the total quote agreed upon is due in order to get on the schedule. Amounts less than $500 need to be paid in full upfront. We accept credit cards, debit cards, e-checks, and bank transfers via PayPal. (You don’t need an account to make a payment). We can meet locally to formalize the service agreement or electronically, its up to you.

3. Submit your Design Questionnaire

The Design Questionnaire helps point me in the direction your website needs to go, creatively and functionally. This form must be completed at least 1 week before your draft is due.

4. Approve Draft and Make Edits

Before I begin coding the website, I will create a graphic representation of your website for your approval. We will work together with any edits to the proof so that you are 100% satisfied. I guarantee that you will love your design and your satisfaction is my absolute priority.

5. Approve Final Draft

You will receive an electronic signature request to sign off on the final graphics once they are to your liking. Please note that graphical revisions beyond this point are billed at the standard hourly rate of $85/hr.

6. Make Remaining Payments

Along with the final graphics sign-off, a final bill will be sent to you via PayPal. Within 72 business hours of your final payment, the graphics will be installed onto a test site and the URL sent to you for approval.

7. Approve Test Website

The test site is located on the In Good Company Web Design server, and features the final design exactly as it will appear on your own domain name. You’ll be able to see it in action, and make any content or editing changes. When you’re ready to go live, we move to the next step.

8. Transfer and Installation to Your “Live” Servers

Installation Credentials (Hosting service, usernames, and passwords) need to be provided within 2 business days of test site approval. We will ask you what we need specifically in order to install the design. Once we have all the information we need, installation will occur within 72 hours. Please note that installations may occur at any time, and your website will experience very brief, if any, downtime.

30-Day Launch Support

For 30 regular days after installation, you will be provided launch support for any issues that might arise. This may include: Formatting posts, sidebar items, menu items, etc… to accommodate your custom content; Updates to your theme and to WordPress; Limited tutorials and assistance with learning how to post, and create sidebar widgets. We are not responsible for writing, organizing, publishing, or creating posts, pages, or sidebar widgets or any other content on the site.
