Design Process Explained
You can find the Design Process here, but I did want to go more in-depth on what you can expect from me throughout this process. After contacting me via phone, or through email with the form at the bottom of the site, I will contact you so we can discuss what you expect out of your website. Once we come to an agreement, I will send you a website proposal. This will list the amount of pages, the kind of content, the feel of the design, the time-frame in which the website will be completed, and what kind of functionality you want to have with your finished website. It will also include a price quote for the website I will design.
After you have agreed to the final proposal, I will send you several things. First I will send you the website agreement through DocuSign. Then I will send a website design questionnaire that will need to be completed to assist with the design. And finally I will send a request for payment through Paypal. If you are uncomfortable with doing business online, I can meet you in person if you are local to Portland.
I will then begin designing a mock-up of how your website will look. This usually takes 1-2 weeks before the graphic draft is ready for approval and I will email it to you for approval. At this point you will have the opportunity to make changes to the mock-up if that is needed. The goal with the mock-up is to completely represent the visual layout of your website, and though each page may look slightly different depending on the sidebar widgets used, the mock-up will carry the design elements throughout the website.
After the Graphic Draft or Mock-up is approved, I will send a request for the remaining payments through Paypal and begin coding and splicing the graphics for your website. Depending on the kind of website you want created, this can take anywhere from 1-5 weeks. During this step, I will also be adding the WordPress Plugin functionality to the website. So, for instance if you wanted an online shopping cart built in to your website, I would integrate this plugin at this stage of development.
I will be creating your website, on a test server that is not available to the public. And once it is complete, I will send you the web address for you to view it. After you have approved the final site, I will set a time to transfer it to your live website. Depending on your hosting service, this can take up to 24 hours to complete, but will usually be completed within a few hours.
The site will then be tested for its functionality and speed. Also, plugins such as Cache and SEO will be added at that time.
You have 7 -day support from the launch of your website, if you need any help. And I will give you access to my WordPress tutorials on how to update your website. If your website has unique functionality, I will create video tutorials specifically for you.
I hope this post has cleared up any questions you may have. If not just ask.
